Novice Team
Novice fall programming covers basic rowing/erging technique, rowing in tanks, learning to use ergometers for training and testing, as well as basic and supervised equipment handling and maintenance. Novice families should communicate upcoming absences and conflicts to coaching staff. In addition to rowing and erging, novice rowers and coxswains can expect to participate in land warmups, body weight calisthenics, running, stretching, and more as instructed by coaching staff. While we aim to maximize our time out on the water, understand that coaches may hold land days for a variety of reasons (weather, regatta packing/unpacking, ergometer testing, attendance, etc.). Proper rowing attire is necessary (skin tight bottom layer, dress for the weather). Rowers and rowing families are expected to follow the Pittsford Crew code of conduct before, during, and after practice as well as at racing venues.
