Volunteer Requirements

Important changes - Please read

Welcome to Fall 2011!

Here are the descriptions of the Volunteer Opportunities for Fall, 2011.  As you can see below, MOST of these jobs are within the scope of ordinary parents.  Only a few, like Launch Drivers and First Aid, will require special talents.  Each family will be asked to do 2-3 volunteer spots depending on what you choose to do.   If you have two athletes in your family, you will be asked to do more.

We now use a “weighted” the jobs with broad time requirements so we can “equalize” jobs across our Pittsford Family.  (Please see table).  If you choose to do a job with more time commitment, you may be asked to do a much smaller second one.   We understand that all families are not created equal as to how much time you can give.  BUT, if you cannot give time, you can always prepare something for our Pasta Psych Party or buy something for the Hospitality Tent!

We are also again asking for volunteers (“Land Parents”) to monitor land-based practices for any athletes unable to participate in a water practice.   Having a parent in the PIRC assuring a tank or erg practice is going well and safely is invaluable.  And, therefore there will be 94-98 extra slots to fill because of it!  Most of the time, since all athletes will be in boats, the coach will let you go home after you report for duty.   An easy way to volunteer!

When you register your athlete, please fill out the information section at the end of registration.  You will be asked to rank your PREFERENCES for Volunteer Opportunities (we will make an effort to assign you what you choose, but cannot guarantee individual assignments).  Remember, you will be asked to do 2-3 volunteer spots, depending on the jobs you choose.  You will be contacted EARLY in the season with your assignments.   Please make every effort to fulfill your volunteer requirement.  However, if there is an emergency, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator ASAP if you cannot fulfill your responsibilities.
