The race is held on the Erie Canal in Pittsford, NY. The canal is ideal for racing, as it is sheltered flat water with little or no boat traffic, especially this time of year.  This is a High School only event with fours and eights competing head race style on a 4400 Meter course.  A bicycle path extends the length of the course for great spectator viewing. The finish line is in the picturesque village of Pittsford, with wonderful opportunities to view the race, shop and eat.

Again this year we are planning the ‘Chili Cook-off’, so plan to bring your best chili and we’ll have competition on and off the water.

Directions to Launch site

From the East:

Take NYS Thruway to Exit 45 (1st Rochester exit). Go approximately 7.5 miles and then exit at Fairport exit (past the Pittsford exit). Take a left at the bottom of the ramp. You will go by St John Fisher College on your right

Make a left at the light at the bottom of the hill onto Rt 96 and go approximately 1.6 miles. Go under the railroad bridge and take a right just past the gas station and before the Del Monte Inn. Go through the Inn parking lot to Grove Street and follow signs to launching area. Please park trailers in location designated for your crew.

 

From the West:

Take NYS Thruway to exit 47 (I490). Take I-490 east through Rochester to Exit 23, Linden Avenue. Make a Right  at the light from the exit ramp.  Make a left at the next light onto East Ave (firehouse on the left). Bear right at the 4th light onto Rt 96 (which is still East Ave). If you don't bear right at the proper turn, you will come to 490 again.

Now go approximately 1.6 miles on East Ave (Rt. 96). Go under the railroad bridge and take a right just past the gas station and before the Del Monte Inn. Go through the Inn parking lot to Grove Street and follow signs to launching area. Please park trailers in location designated for your crew.
