The race is held on the Erie Canal in Pittsford, NY. The canal is ideal for racing, as it is sheltered flat water with very little boat traffic.  All Master's events (singles, doubles, four, and eights) are held over a 1600meter course, run head style.  All Scholastic eights and fours are run in match style over two lanes and a distance of 1100 meters. A bicycle path extends the length of the course for great spectator viewing. The finish line is in the picturesque village of Pittsford, with wonderful opportunities to view the race, shop and eat.

Directions to Launch site

From the East:

Take NYS Thruway to Exit 45 (1st Rochester exit). Go approximately 10 miles and then exit at Fairport exit (past the Pittsford exit). Take a left at the bottom of the ramp. You will go by St John Fisher College on your right

To proceed to the boat launch area, take a left at the light at the bottom of the hill onto Rt 96 and go approximately 3 miles. Go under the railroad bridge and take a right just past the gas station and before the Del Monte Inn. Go through the Inn parking lot to Grove Street and follow signs to launching area. Please park trailers in location designated for your crew.

If you are a sculler, you can drive in to drop off a boat, but you must pull back out again to park in the main lot.

From the West:

Take NYS Thruway to exit 47 (I490). Take I-490 east through Rochester to the Linden exit. Take a left at the top of the ramp, then take a left at the light onto East Ave (firehouse on the left). Bear right at the 3rd light onto Rt 96 (which is still East Ave). If you don't bear right at the proper turn, you will come to 490 again.

Now go approximately 3 miles on East Ave (Rt. 96). Go under the railroad bridge and take a right just past the gas station and before the Del Monte Inn. Go through the Inn parking lot to Grove Street and follow signs to launching area. Please park trailers in location designated for your crew.
