Varsity Boys

Doug Short

Varsity Boys Head Coach Doug Short comes to Pittsford Crew with broad coaching experience. He is currently completing his US Rowing Level III coaching certification. This past spring he finished his sixth successful season as the Men’s Freshman coach at the University of Rochester. Four of his freshmen competed at the 2006 IRA championships, capturing first place in the Petite Final. In addition, he has coached adults for many years as well as the Genesee Waterway’s first all minority program last year. This summer Doug has coached the Rochester Navy Junior Men’s competitive program, rowing out of Fairport.

Doug’s rowing experience began at the University of Washington. He still competes at masters level, attending the St. Catherine’s Invitational, Welland, Canadian Henley, and Masters' Nationals where he gold medaled last year.

Greg Stachura

I am proud to be back where I belong, on the water. As a founding member of Pittsford Crew I am happy to be returning to where it all began. I am a graduate of both Boston College ('05) and Pittsford Sutherland ('01). Due to bad knees I was unable to compete at Boston College and missed out on my senior year in high school. As a State Champion from 1999 I look forward to helping keep the guys team a competitive program as it was when I left.

Varsity Girls p

Nick Baish

Nicholas G. Baish is US Rowing level I (level II in 2008) certified coach and currently a graduate thesis student and TA at RIT in the School of Film and Animation. He has been a rower since 1996 when he started as an eighth grader at the Burnt Hills Rowing Association. He later rowed at Marist College, a Division I level program. He has coached both sweep and sculling at Burnt Hills, teaching youth and adult learn to row as well as youth competitive and 'technique clinics'.
