Spring 2008 Information

CODE OF CONDUCT

Participation in athletics is both a privilege and a responsibility. Athletes earn recognition for their achievements as representatives of their school, team, and the community. When an athlete accepts the privilege, he/she must live up to a code of conduct beyond that of the general high school student. This applies both on and off crew and school property during the season and off-season.

As a prerequisite for participation in the Pittsford Crew, athletes, and parents must sign a statement that commits the athlete to follow the established training rules and requires parents to do everything in their power to make sure their athlete abides by the established Athletic Code of Conduct. These forms must be signed at the beginning of the school year. The Athletic Code of Conduct is applicable during the entire calendar year.

The Pittsford Crew Code of Conduct is available here.

The Pittsford Crew Attendance policy is available here.

LEARN TO ROW PROGRAM pRE

This is an opportunity for area high school students to learn the sport of rowing. During the two-week session, rowers will learn safety procedures, rowing techniques on the ergometer, and will quickly progress to rowing on the water. Each session will be limited to 36 participants.

2008 will be our eighth summer of rowing instruction for youth on the Erie Canal.  This beginner program is open to all kids in the Rochester Area entering grades 8 - 12 next fall who have never before rowed.  Learn to Row is a safe, well-supervised place where kids can quickly experience the thrill of rowing.

We are also offering an advanced Learn to Row option for any one who did the Learn To Row program in a prior year but didn't continue into the Novice High School program.  They are eligible to take the Advanced Learn To Row option.  Advanced programs will run in the afternoon of sessions two and three.

An intramural program is also being offered to those rowers wishing to stay in shape between the Spring and Fall seasons.

Multiple two-week sessions are scheduled in Summer and sponsored by Pittsford Crew.  This is an experience of a lifetime, right here on the Erie Canal. For information and registration click here.

Registration will be in the Spring for all of our Learn To Row and Intramural programs.  Sign up early to better ensure availability of a place in your first choice of sessions.

JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM TESTING

The US Junior National team is a great experience for racing, and broadening your rowing resume. It’s also the perfect opportunity for you to set and work towards your personal goals. Teams are selected based only on erg times and your coaches recommendation.
